Hey everyone! I'm currently working on a game concept and I had an interesting question. Have any of you ever tried to take inspiration from local stories, fairy tales or folklore, rather than Western sci-fi or classic fantasy? Most often I see people getting inspired by Scandinavian sagas, Greek myths or European fantasy. But we have a lot of interesting stories, heroes and themes ourselves.

That’s a really interesting idea! Cultural stories, folklore, and local traditions can add so much depth and originality to a game, making it stand out from the usual Western-inspired narratives. They also help preserve and share unique perspectives with a wider audience. It reminds me of how students studying abroad often benefit from environments that support their own identity and culture. For example, finding the right student accommodation in Melbourne can create a space where they feel comfortable and inspired, which is just as important as the creative projects they’re working on.
